Provider Services: Training Opportunities

CCR&R offers training designed to help early childhood professionals meet licensing and registration requirements and become more successful in developing skills for working with children and families. In-service training is required by the Iowa Department of Human Services as minimum training requirements for persons employed in child development homes and centers.

Training Professional Development Guide

CRR Core Trainings

  • Universal Precautions - an in-depth look at the risks of disease transmission while caring for children, basic understanding of infection control and how to reduce risks-arranged through Healthy Child Care Iowa held 6 times a year
  • Mandatory Reporter of Suspected Child Abuse - this training is required for anyone working in child care and is renewable every 5 years . This required class is available 6 times a year by ICN and taught by a Healthy Child Care Iowa nurse consultant.
CCR&R Core Series Trainings
  • ChildNet - 25 hour (10 week) series for child development home providers.
  • Welcome to Child Care - 12 hour, 6 week series for center staff
  • Welcome to School Age Care -10 hour, 5 week series for persons who care for school-age children.
  • Program for Infant & Toddler Care - 40 hour series in 4 modules, focus on relationships and early learning
  • Medication Administration - 5 hours, 1 day training with on-site testing.
  • Emergency Preparedness - 2 hours, for all child care providers.
  • Injury Prevention - 2 hours, for all child care providers.

 

After Child Care Home Providers complete ChildNet training within 1 year, they are eligible to become ChildNet Certified.
Qualifications of becoming ChildNet Certified


CPR and First Aid Instructors
CPR and First Aid training is offered in local communities. A certificate or card will be issued after the completion of the training, by the instructor, which is necessary for licensing or registration. CCRR does not coordinate training or take registration. To register for a First Aid or CPR training contact an instructor or organization offering training in your area.
